About Veronica Carey
Dr. Veronica Carey is the assistant dean for diversity, equity and inclusion and an associate clinical professor at Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions. Prior to joining the BHC faculty in 2011, Dr. Carey was a full-time faculty member for 10 years in Drexel‘s Department of Psychiatry, Division of Behavioral Healthcare Education. She has over 20 years of experience in behavioral health program planning and management, continuing education training and policy development. Dr. Carey is the Chair of the Academy for Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Recovery.
A national and international guest lecturer and workshop presenter, Dr. Carey has addressed evidence-based best practices in recovery-oriented services, treatment planning, behavioral health care system practices, program planning and implementation of psychiatric rehabilitation services. She had trained in Korea, Pakistan, Italy and Singapore. Her articles on direct-care staff development in community-based treatment settings have been published in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Journal, PSY Connections and Psychiatric Services.
Her research interest is the implementation of recovery-oriented services.
Dr. Carey is a member of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Certification Commission, the International Committee for Psychiatric Rehabilitation Inclusion and is a consultant to Pennsylvania’s Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
